The humane way to tidy and thin.

The Smart Grooming Smart Manes Thinning & Tidying Rake will actually thin out a thick mane quickly and effortlessly and is perfect for tidying horses that usually react to traditional pulling methods. Guaranteed to work on even the most sensitive.

Three grades to choose from depending on the finish and density of hair being tamed.
Coarse - Great for a more natural finish. Good for coarse/wiry types of mane. The teeth are spaced out more widely allowing thick hair to pass through more easily. (12 teeth)

Medium - Perfect for the average unruly mane, this will cope with medium to soft hair. (18 teeth)

Fine - Suitable for very soft manes and for manes which have already been tidied. (23 teeth)

Brush through the mane first and put on the “wrong side”.  Comb through with a Smart Manes starting at the top, one stroke at a time working down. Brush back on to correct side.  If you want a level finish we recommend finishing with our Pro Levelling knife. 

Please note, the Smart Manes rake will thin the hair very quickly so be careful not to remove too much hair in one go as this can cause the hair to grow back rather spiky.

This product is environmentally friendly, you can buy repalcement blades.

Fine blades are mostly used on hair which have already been tidied or is quite fine. It is also useful to finish really thick tails when a show or close finish is needed, and the bulk of it has already been shaped with a coarser blade.

Medium blades are good for the average type of mane, tail or coat. This will cope with medium to soft hair and is ideal on manes and tails.

Coarse blades are good for thick full tails, manes and think coats, which haven't been tidied before or are very coarse. This will process a large amount of thick hair easily and efficiently leaving a tidy looking finish. The coarse is also very good on natives that are being shown, and the end result needs to look tidy but still untouched.
