Bring it in and we'll check that it still fits and meets the current standards for your discipline. There's no charge for this.

You don't need an appointment. We always have trained fitters in the shop during opening hours, Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5pm.

Please allow up to an hour, so we can try a few different brands and get the fit right.

• For a hatWear your hair the way you ride, and bring your hairnet if you use one.
• For a body protector or air jacketWear what you normally ride in, such as a base layer or thin top, rather than a thick coat.
• For competitionsBring the hat or body protector you already have, and check your discipline's rulebook so we can help you choose something that meets its standards.

Hat tagging is done by your competition or Pony Club officials, not in the shop.

• Immediately after any fall
  Replace your hat after any fall or hard knock, even if it looks fine. Damage inside the shell isn't always visible.
• Every 3 to 5 years
  Otherwise, replace your hat after 3 to 5 years of use. Body protectors should also be replaced every 3 to 5 years, as the foam loses some of its protection over time.
• Never second-hand
  We don't sell second-hand hats or body protectors, and we'd advise against buying them, because you can't be sure they haven't been damaged.

Children's heads and bodies change quickly, so a hat or body protector that fitted last season may not fit now. We suggest bringing young riders in every 6 months so we can check their fit, free of charge.

We can't recommend a hat size over the phone or by email. Head shape matters as much as head size, and the only way to know a hat fits is to try it on.

For safety reasons we can't exchange riding hats or body protectors once they've left the shop, because we need to know they have never been dropped or damaged. Please come in and be fitted before you buy.
